I've got a fashion feeling that quilted jackets like this Burberry white quilted 'Edenson' zip up jacket will be a huge trend this fall. Taking quite a huge cue from the '70s -- take note of the boxy cut and thinness of the jacket. If this jacket catches your fancy, take it fashion forward with a wool pencil skirt and platform pumps.

You'll recall from the Fall 2010 runway shows dangled a bevvy of mouth watering, mile long silk scarves, much in the vein of this Pucci bright green floral silk-cotton beaded charm scarf. Feel free to accessorize your tanks with them, liven up your LBD, and give your tweed blazers a jet-set slant...

Well it's officially September and unofficially the "start of fall" which means that you're caught in that weird fashion space where you're still wearing your fave summer pieces, but need to make them weather proof for those cooler evenings.
That said, we've pulled together five must have items that will help you make a smooth transition.

Velvet harem pants. Cropped velvet Boyfriend blazers. Velvet shirt
dresses. Velvet leggings... The list goes on and on and on.
This Fall 2010 there will be no shortage of velvet with the fabrication's fuzzy luxe all over this year's trendiest apparel styles.
The question is...

Before you freak out, we aren't talking about a jazzed up Jansport backpack, but a real life designer bag, that just so happens to be worn on your back.
Get it?
If you're the least bit excited about this upcoming trend, check out Gucci's black leather convertible medium backpack; take style note that you can wear it either as a backpack or a hobo bag.

So, yes. Those husky, sweaty, swarthy, bearded lumberjacks have bumbled their way onto the runway via heavy plaids and flannels. (A bit of a disclaimer: if you happen to reside in a part of Brooklyn called Williamsburg, you already know that this "trend" has been going strong for the past several seasons.)
Anyhoo, though we think this will be a cool fall/winter trend, we think it needs more of a fashionista slant. Here, we give you a look for work and play. Take note that both looks work around Literature Noir's black leather back zip mini skirt.
For work: Make this look slightly more corporate with Drew's red plaid cotton 'Girlfriend' jacket accessorized with gold and wood accessories and patent leather booties.
For play: Kick back and get girlie with William Rast's red plaid frayed ruffle snap front shirt and Faryl Robin's grey leather 'Fabienne' studded bootie. Add a dash of culture via Lee Angel's light blue seed beaded 'Yasmine' hoop earrings.
Enjoy!

The cardigan can easily be called the "safety blanket" of any true fashionista's wardrobe, simply because it's that one anchoring piece that works flawlessly with both your classic black work pants and your trusty, broken in jeans. Plus, at such an affordable cost, you don't ever have to justify why "you need a new one."
This Fall 2010 season the cardigan doesn't disappoint with frilly and fun details like ruffles, convertible uses and the return of the baby cardigan.
Throw one on, then zip up or button down!

Plaid shorts were one of summer's biggest trends, and with the roller coaster weather that September is sure to bring, we want to show you just how to keep this trend going even as temps dip and dive.
Here we give you a choice of either going preppy via a classic white button down shirt, natty sweater vest and kid leather boat Oxfords, or sporty with a navy V-neck cashmere sweater and designer hi-top sneakers.
Both looks will ensure you stay "fly" and work well into the fall season.

Happy Monday, everyone!
Boho is a trend I easily relate to and often reference when getting dressed -- although I usually put more of a tough or glittery spin on it -- so this was an especially fun one for me. Since Fall '10 boho is looking a bit more luxurious and folkloric, I decided to wear boho in a more "grown-up" and polished way. You may recall from my previous entry that I changed my hair from dark brown to an ombre blond, so this definitely seemed like the right way to go.
Here's what I wore...
MONDAY:

On Monday, I wore a vintage Yves Saint Laurent blouse with cuffed black shorts and a pair ofMiu Miu platform sandals I've had for years. I accessorized with an Isharya pendant necklace, a red gold-coin vintage belt and my Jimmy Choo bag.
TUESDAY:

On Tuesday, I was feeling a little under the weather, so I dressed up more than usual. For whatever reason, I find that dressing up makes me feel better and I HATE it when people say things like "You look sick," so I do what I can to avoid that.
I chose a printed JB by Julie Brown shift -- that looks pretty Tory Burch, right? -- with Christian Louboutin platform sandals. The bag is Yves Saint Laurent and the cocktail ring is Bing Bang.
WEDNESDAY:

On Wednesday, I chose torn faded skinny jeans, a Rag & Bone blouse, and a faux fur vest. I love the sorbet color of this top and the silk is so delicate and soft. The shoes are Stuart Weitzman -- recognize them from last week...?? - and the bag is Jimmy Choo. I also wore a Danielle Stevens layered necklace and cocktail ring by Bing Bang.
THURSDAY:

On Thursday, I put on a printed dress with a cream blazer and accessorized with a chunky bib necklace and cocktail ring. The bag is Jimmy Choo and the shoes are Stuart Weitzman.
FRIDAY:

To end the week, I rocked a sleeveless ruffle sweater and black skinny jeans. I've had this sweater for years now and I love its perfect femme and artsy mix. The shoes are Stuart Weitzman and the bag is Jimmy Choo.
So starts the last week of summer, or at least for me it is from a fashion perspective. I know the official last day of summer is September 22nd, but for my closets, spring/summer clothes are swapped for fall stuff once Labor Day hits. I cannot wait. The things I am most looking forward to wearing are layers, leather jackets, patterned tights, Alexander Wang black shaggy boots. I'm also psyched about football season!
But I digress... let me know which boho-luxe outfit you liked best. This week, I am rocking bright colors and ending summer with several upbeat looks. It's going to be hot again so stay cool and I'll see you all next week!
XO
