The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute pays tribute to the wardrobe of style innovator Iris Barrel Apfel, whose day-to-day ensembles were nothing short of fabulous. The 84-year-old textile designer still loves mixing high and low, sporting "Dior haute couture with flea-market finds," as the Met catalog says. "In the world of Iris Barrel Apfel, it doesn't matter if something is 'in' or 'out'" reports Fashion Wire Daily. "And it doesn't matter if it cost $5 or $50,000." [images from FWD and the MET]
