barneys-retail.jpg"Barneys is the cool kid in the class, while Bloomingdale's is the head cheerleader and Lord & Taylor, the substitute teacher," writes New York Times reporter Alex Kuczynski about the flavor of New York's department stores. macy's is the slightly chubby wannabe (of the queen bees and wannabes); bergdorf goodman -- your stylish divorcee aunt. she smokes, never eats -- put together, but kinda haggard-looking; henri bendel -- french, slightly older lady. or a francophile/europhile. she has a small dog and maybe eats lunch alone? (like french ladies!). what about jc penney or nordstrom?
