Designer John Varvatos, who updated the classic Chuck Talyor for Converse, will create the shoemaker's first ready-to-wear line, incorporating punk, military and rock n' roll influences. But what about the beloved, humble, canvas sneaker? "When you start doing $55 T-shirts and $395 sweaters," one retail consultant mused to the Boston Herald, "Does that take their core Converse customers out of the market?"
