A number of progressive young designers took part in CitySol'06, a summer-long environmental festival taking place along Manhattan's East River waterfront. With aGain NYC, designer Allison Teich transforms vintage curtains into funky purses and yoga mat bags. Sara Kirsner of Doie makes kimono-inspired hoodies and loungewear out of eco-friendly bamboo fabric. Reiter8 (re-it-er-ate) creator Katherine Rasmussen makes tote bags out of rescued boat sails. Now if only someone could figure out a way to make Al Gore seem less toxically dull.
