Today Payless launches Fashion Lab -- its Fifth Avenue space that's trying to be cheap and chic a la Target and H&M. About 20 to 30 more stores, along with ads in Vogue and Elle, will encourage budget-strapped fashionistas to "look again." Never mind that Abaete designer Laura Poretzky has never designed shoes -- all she really needs to do is make some strong Manolo and Choo knockoffs and her work is done. [via USA Today]
