Chicken wire, garbage bags, and duct tape were just a few of the "ingredients" used to create fashion confections at the "Project-Runway"-like Fashion Project in Denver two weeks ago. Four challenges, twelve contestants and one top prize -- a trip to New York Fashion Week -- brought out the best in local design talent. The third challenge (and our favorite) required contestants to create an outfit from a $150 Ace Hardware gift certificate. The winner, Stephanie Ohnmacht, made a strapless sundress from canvas cloth trimmed with duct tape. The bodice was made from her own macrame webbing, the skirt decorated with birdseed, and she finished it all off with a hat made from a fiberglass dent-repair kit. Hot!

This was a great fashion show. The outfits were ingenious.
