We were stopped cold by these quotes from YSL designer Stefano Pilati: "You can't find [black models] that are beautiful and with the right proportions," the designer told Washington Post style writer Robin Givhan. "I prefer them with lean proportions with no big hips." Yikes. Are we Americans just more P.C. about these kinds of things or is that just all kinds of wrong? Either way, why is it stuffed way down into an otherwise routine fashion house story? Wonder what the curvy Beyonce, just spotted shopping at YSL last week, would have to say about this?
