The Big Buyback

It's every designer's dream to sell their company to a giant fashion conglomerate, until they decide that it's not so dreamy after all to lose control of your baby. That's why news that Azzedine Alaia is buying his company back from Prada is so great -- it's rare that a designer can get his or her company back without major bloodletting, and nice that it's now, when Alaia's star is on the rise again. Of course in the meantime, the cycle begins anew -- Sienna Miller's sis and Twenty8Twelve designer Savannah Miller recently fantasized to WWD, "I would love to have a show someday, maybe if we are bought by the Gucci Group."
