A new book about the dark side of the luxe market, entitled "Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster," promises to strip the labels off your designer goods and expose the shoddy workmanship beneath the heavily marked-up merchandise. "When forced to confront our own credit card demons,"wonders Los Angeles Times fashion writer Booth Moore, "how many of us discover we have spent more than we should have on a Prada this or that?" Ironically, it seems that that worldwide demand for luxury goods is only growing, not losing its luster as the dramatic subtitle claims.
