Independent shows during Los Angeles fashion week may allow designers to strut their stuff on the cheap keep while keeping things interesting from a design perspective, but it does mean that the action in the main tents is kind of lacking. Even major L.A. designers like Louis Verdad and Eduardo Lucero have moved to BOXeight, an independent show that also showcases music and art, leaving just 30 designers in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Making things even worse, last year's Kitten Fashion Week, another indie show, bowed out for this season. Sigh. It seems L.A. will never find its own local fashion legs, but before you give up all hope, meet some promising newcomers, like designer Victor Wilde, pictured. [via Los Angeles Times]
