Fake Canal Street, Real Vuitton

The Times reports on the blockbuster Murakami exhibit opening: Kanye performed; controversial developer Bruce Ratner was honored later for his contribution to the arts (with Atlantic Yard protesters just outside the Brooklyn Museum doors); and those cash cow Murakami-Louis Vuitton bags made a reappearance, natch. In a flipping of the script, fake Canal Street-type stalls were set up outside of the Museum and REAL Vuittons were sold by "men who resembled the African immigrant vendors" who sell designer knockoffs in Chinatown. For the best of both worlds--discounted but real designer bags--check this out.
