Prisoners Design Fashion

inmatesdesigningclothing.jpgYes design, not inspire. Haeftling, a new design company in Germany is trying to break into the fashion business selling stylish clothes designed and produced by prison inmates.
(I guess they decided to forgo the working toddlers in China.) They wanted the clothes to be beautiful, durable and tell a story; many of the inmate's pieces are created and tagged with a blurb about the prisoner's background. Part of the proceeds from sales go to organizations that support prisoners' rights and better conditions for inmates, if not directly to the inmates themselves. FYI--"Haeftling" means inmate in German.
