Surfacing Trends: Neon Clothing

neon-FlyPaper.jpgWith all the '80s redux, I should have guessed. But the second coming of the neon surf look, circa 1989 -- found here, at Coachella -- still took me by surprise. Really? We’re doing this now? Before you try to dig up your old Body Glove neoprene bikini, try this neon yellow bubble dress, to ease into the trend. {photo courtesy latimes.com]

I was equally surprised at Coachella (last time). But it was cool to see my old retro surf t-shirts that I donated to Goodwill being recycled.

I did a quick search on ebay for T&C and found a vintage 80s shirt going for $70! (Same with Oakley Frogs.) Lesson: Keep your childhood clothes.

I'll admit that it's fun to see the neon and retro surf wear make a comeback. But, I draw the line at parachute pants.
