June 19, 2008Before Vogue Italia's All Black Issue...
...
Black Girls Ruled in and on Trace Magazine. This said, I am excited about Vogue Italia's issue celebrating the diversity of black beauty -- I just wonder when American Vogue (and Elle, and Harper's Bazaar, and every other magazine that purports to be an authority on American fashion and beauty) will get the memo that beauty comes red, yellow, black and white -- and not just in July.

CommentsYES!!!!!!!!! Bravo!!! I am still amazed as I look around and see online site like Style, Style List, etc. and all I see are people of non-color. Things that make one go..., but we have an African-American as the Democratic nominee. Go figure. Posted by: Dagny Taggart at June 20, 2008 08:24 PM Yes, it's so true. Beauty is INTERNATIONAL!!! And eternal. Not for the editors of Vogue to decide. Posted by: Lexis B at June 24, 2008 12:03 PM It is fabulous that the July issue is the all black issue, black models need just as much coverage as everyone else! Although Vogue is not the major arbiter of equality, but at least it is a step in the right direction. There defiantly needs to be more “Bianca’s” recognized in the industry.
