The Met Costume Gala is fashion nirvana, but soprano Renee Fleming will bring couture to New York's other Met, the Metropolitan Opera House, on September 22 when she performs at the opening night gala. John Galliano, Christian Lacroix, and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel will each design costumes for Fleming, singing three of her most acclaimed roles in fully staged selections from Verdi’s La Traviata (Act II), Massenet’s Manon (Act III), and Strauss’s Capriccio (final scene). Call us wrong, but we're already speculating that fashion groupies will be getting tickets just to see the clothes and get snapped for the society pages. Either way, brilliant.

I Renee Fleming is a talented American soprano. I forgot about the show; now I have to see if I can get tickets. Thanks for the reminder. -- cheers
