Retro Fashions of "Mad Men"

flypaper_bluefly_madmen.jpg Much has been made about the mouth-watering retrocity (hey, I just coined a word!) of AMC's drama "Mad Men," which recently racked up 16 Emmys noms, including one for Best Costumes. I am obsessed with this show for so many reasons, not the least of which is the period-perfect wardrobe worn by "Mad's" lucky actresses. In the early 1960's it was not only ok to be zoftig, you actually looked better in dresses if you were. Ah, if only this were true today! Well, the Jackie O-inspired styles seen on the show may be in the past, but their impression is firmly imbedded in modern designs like this satin belted shirt dress, which I can totally picture on one of Sterling-Cooper's sexy office trollups.
