Sorry, But I Prefer to Keep My Spanx Under Wraps

flypaper_bluefly_spanx.jpg I was equally amused as horrified to read in the Seattle Times today that so-called "shapewear" makers are now encouraging women to wear their wares on the outside, or so they showed at the recent Lingerie Americas trade show in New York. What??? As if squeezing into these stretchy, bondage-type underthings isn't horrible enough, they want us to forgo our top clothes altogether? Eeesh.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. There's a reason they're called "foundation garments."

Now, lingerie as fashion can work if you do it right. It's made of pretty fabrics, usually with lace. Foundation garments, or "shapewear" is usally flesh-toned lycra - not the kind of thing that should see the light of day outside of ice skating costumes.
