Even in these blogcentric, over-analytical times it's quite possible that during this cycle of Democratic and Republican conventions, people were paying more attention to substance than style; after all, it's a tight race. Still, that didn't stop fashion pundits from weighing in. Both Hillary's orange pantsuit and one writer's interpretation of it were raked over coals, while Robin Givhan championed the 'freedom to look ridiculous.' Perhaps the best fashion coverage to come out of the convention though was Vanity Fair's breakdown of Cindy McCain and Laura Bush's outfits; thier Oscar de La Rentas, Chanel jewelry, Weitzman heels and assorted other bling hit an estimated $315,000.
