A 2.0 Bride Speaks!

We launched Wedding 2.0 this week as a one-stop shop for bridesmaids, groomsmen and guests; and as a service to brides who are increasingly making use of technology to make arrangements and maintain their sanity. Blogger Alisa Leonard-Hansen let us in on how she went 2.0 for her wedding.

Since we live in New York and our family is scattered across the west coast, we set up a Tumblr blog to let everyone know wedding details and provide a place to post pictures and info during and after the wedding. We wanted something we could easily update and wouldn't require anyone to sign into, and being active bloggers it only made sense.

Also, we used my Flickr account to post wedding photos for friends and family to see and easily share. A lot of the wedding planning also involved countless hours of me scrolling through wedding blogs for ideas on everything from the dress to how to "green" our wedding, and bookmarking and organizing my blog finds in my Del.icio.us account.

My dress was actually a vintage dress I bought online that I had a designer here in New York update a bit. To coordinate with bridesmaids who lived all over the place, we created a Facebook event to update each other on activities and to coordinate travel, etc.

My husband's family also maintains a family website on MyFamily.com which everyone used to coordinate and share pictures and stories after the wedding. I'm still updating both the blog and Flickr account with new photos. The beauty is that we used tools we use almost everyday anyway, so the process of sharing our favorite memories is easy and simple!
