When President-Elect Barack Obama asked his wife what she planned to wear to the Inauguration Ball during their recent Barbara Walters interview, I'm sure it was the question heard around the fashion world. (We've been wondering too!) Every designer from Diane Von Furstenberg to Rachel Roy to Marc Jacobs to Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel is eager to dress the First Lady Elect and to that end they all submitted sketches to WWD's "Inaugural Sweepstakes." Christian Lacroix alone submitted five looks. It's interesting to see how they envision Michelle Obama's style, what they project onto it, and even more compelling to (re)consider what a First Lady's style should (conservative? muted?) and could (fierce? sexy? powerful?) be. What do you think?
