Michelle Obama wants new American art and more affordable brands in the East Wing of the White House, which she'll start calling home in less than a week. The First Lady-Elect said in a statement announcing her hiring of interior designer Michael Smith, "Michael shares my vision for creating a family-friendly feel to our new home and incorporating some new perspectives from some of America's greatest artists and designers." Smith, who's responsible for the interior decor of Cindy Crawford's, Michelle Pfeiffer's, Steven Spielberg's, and Rupert Murdoch's homes told AP, "The [Obamas'] casual style, their interest in bringing 20th century American artists to the forefront and utilizing affordable brands and products will serve as our guiding principles as we make the residence feel like their home."
