Wine label Ecco Domani, who for eight years has hosted an award program to toast and help support the most promising emerging fashion designers, announced the new winners for 2009. Lyn Devon, Matthew Ames, Ohne Titel (their work, above) , and Cushnie et Ochs won for women's design; Corpus won for men's; Monique Pean won for jewelry, and Bodkin for sustainable design. All recipients of the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award will win a $25,000 grant to help fund their fashion show (or recession-appropriate "presentation") for New York Fashion Week. More of the honor is, not in the grant money, but in the recognition: Award winners are chosen by fashion editors and executives at top department stores like Barneys, and past winners of the Ecco Domani award include names like Trovata, Derek Lam, VPL, Zac Posen, Proenza Schouler, and Rodarte. Didn't hurt those careers any.
