Gossip Girl: Oh the Drama!by Nana at March 17, 2009, 12:00 AM
Blair's Drama: Her Yale acceptance was revoked when an anonymous someone -- ahem, Rachel (Dan's teacher/lover) -- reports her for hazing a teacher. She spends the rest of the episode trying to figure out who the f messed her up. She wails on Dan, Serena, and a bunch of others. A random chick in the school lets her know tons of people at Constance want to take her down so she's going to have a hard time figuring out the perpetrator. Gossip Girl -- via Rachel -- pours salt into B's wounds by circulating gossip about Serena that S assumes comes from Blair. Dan finds out Rachel is the cause of Blair's woes and lets her know. She confronts Rachel, but decides to leave it at the confrontation. "You'll just have to live with it," she says referencing the general crappiness she feels. Meanwhile... Dan's Drama: At the top of the episode, Dan and Rachel utually decide to stop seeing each other, but the chemistry is so intense, he starts having Jenny pass messages to Rachel for him. Rufus finds out and freaks out. Dan lets him know he's 18 so, "with all due respect MYOB." Dan and Rachel get it on and he's smitten, until he finds out that Rachel has been feeding Gossip Girl the aforementioned rumors. He breaks up with her with this melodramatic line: "You know how you felt when your ideals were crushed? Well congratulations, you just crushed mine." In other news... Chuck's Drama: After he spent all episode (and presumably the whole six weeks the new episodes were on hiatus) trying to rescue Elle from the random shady sex/power club she was desperately trying to escape, she reveals was using him to get money. As if that wasn't brutal enough, she twists the knife with this line: "You've got a good heart - give it to someone who cares." He takes her advice and goes running to Blair's house, only to find Dorota alone in the house. She lets him know "Miss Blair" is still out. He says he'll wait, not knowing that Carter is in the process of trying to rekindle their relationship. And then there's... Vanessa and Nate's Drama: Nate gets jealous of Vanessa's "connection" with Ethan, but all ends well when he decides to watch "The Age of Innocence" movie for her. It was a sweet Awwww... moment. And finally... Serena's Drama: With her and Dan really over, she sets her heart on Ethan, the director of "The Age of Innocence." She senses he's just not that into her because she's so not interested in theater, so she ropes Vanessa into feeding her info she can use to sound knowledgable on a quasi-date with Ethan. It ends up coming to nothing when she realizes he's still not into her. "I can't believe I had a crush on you," she tells him after the play. "Serena, I'm gay," he tells her with a "Duh," shrug of his shoulders. But we loved the most... The Closet Drama: As in the dramatic wardrobe choices. Onstage, Blair's costumes were gothy lace; later, drowning her sorrows at the bar where Carter finds her, she rocks a champagne-colored frock. Chuck was back with his blazers too while Dan went for a louder graphic print/embroidered jacket for his scene with Blair. We're glad the Gossip -- and all its drama -- is back!
