There's been a lot of talk lately about the "dangerously high" trend in shoes. (The Washington Post's Robin Givhan even wrote a piece dissing designers and fashionistas because of it.) But it seems industry insiders are actually bypassing the height and drama of the "Aggressive" shoe -- for rubber soled comfort.

At last night's party for shoe designer, Brian Atwood's new book, Role Play Rene, though the images shot by Tony Duran, and styled by Kate Beckinsale and Beyonce's stylist Kithe Brewster depicted Rene Russo in various dominatrix-y poses -- her sky-scraping heels, wedges and slingbacks alternately breaking through the surface of a pool or resting on the rock hard glutes of a male model -- many of the personalities that packed NoLita gallery, OpenHouse opted for hightop sneakers or modest-heeled boots.

With 38% of you confessing to switching your heels for flip-flops when you leave a party, I'm thinking there's another trend that's quietly surfacing among fashionistas and it's called "Agressive Comfort." Are you in?
