This week's episode was about old flames and old money. Nate was so focused on cozying up to his rich relatives, he completely went amnesiac on his summer plans to travel to Europe with Vanessa, and agreed to take an internship at the Mayor's office instead. Feeling disgusted and betrayed, Vanessa left Nate with his family and cried about her abrupt break-up with Nate in Jenny and Dan's living room. (When are Dan and Vanessa just gonna get together?) It all happened so fast, Vanessa wasn't even sure if she and Nate officially broke up.

Meanwhile, still a wreck over Yale's withdrawal of her acceptance, Blair continued her self-pitying, self-destructive binge by begging the dean at Columbia to accept her -- (he refused); then acting out with her ex, Carter, throwing herself at Chuck -- who refused to sleep with her -- and ultimately hooking up with, Nate. (Consider it official, Vanessa.)

Lily and Rufus have a weird past-related moment too when they agree to list the number of lovers they've slept with. (Never a good idea.) Rufus has 13 people on his list, Lily has considerably more. Perfect set-up for the upcoming spinoff series of Lily and Rufus' '80s youth.
