Fashion Copycats: Do You Secretly Hate Them?

twins_dressed_alike_blueflys_blog_flypaper.jpgI know I do and if you know me personally you also know it ain't no secret. Seriously, I've gotten into on- the-street-arguments with friends that show up at an event with the same skirt/dress/bag that I just bought last week and I never, ever let them live it down. Fashion copycats are also the reason why I insist on shopping ALONE and I think asking someone where they bought an item is the equivalent of asking a person's credit score. Yea, it's that serious to me. What's worse? My grandmother instilled this in me---she used to tell me:

"Tell 'em it's vintage or you got it out of town."

True story.

But come on, I know I'm not alone.....confess!

Interesting post! I never really thought that asking someone where they shopped was rude..I guess I will stop that! Funny thing though, friends usually end up sporting similar fashions and trends.

Sometimes Bernadette--but I have a few friends that want to copy darn near everything I rock--I really, really, really can't stand it.

I don't mind so much when it comes to a purse, accessories or shoes so much, but when it comes to clothing I CAN'T STAND IT! It's different if they accidentally buy the same thing as me but they should NEVER, EVER, EVER buy the exact same thing, especially if we mix in the same circle of friends! That happened to me recently. I bought this really colorful, unique dress for a banquet and a friend of mine happened to be at my house when I was getting ready for it. I showed her the dress and she oohhed and ahhed over it. So little did I know, she went out and bought the exact same dress and wore it to a party that we were both invited to. And since, I was wearing something else to the party and since the dress is really unique and flashy, now if I were to ever wear it around our usual group of friends, everyone will be sure to think that I am wearing her dress or that I went out and copied her. Oh and when I confronted her about it she acted like, "Oh stop being silly, no one pays attention to that. You can still wear yours." GRRRRRRRRRRRR! STYLE STEALERS SUCK!!!
