Gossip Girl: Spring -- and Jealousy -- is in the Airby Nana at April 27, 2009, 10:16 PMSpring has come to Gossip Girl and it's green. Was it just me or was there more green than usual on this week's episode? I counted 9 instances.
1. The show opened with Blair carting the forest green bag in this pic (and declaring to Nate -- who was holding an army green messenger bag -- she had never taken the subway!) 2. Then there was the chartreuse blouse Blair wore as Serena waxed poetic about her blossoming relationship with Gabriel... 3. ...and the gold-flecked green dress Blair wore as she conspired with Chuck to prove to Serena that Gabriel wasn't who he said he was. 4. Lily wore a green multi-strand beaded necklace at the same party where Chuck and Blair unsuccessfully get Serena to see the Gabriel is cheating on her -- and Serena successfully persuades her mother and a room full of investors to back Gabriel's business venture. 5. Vanessa confessed to Dan that she'd been avoiding him because she slept with Chuck -- wearing an acid green cropped cardigan, as they both downed drinks from green bottles. 6. Strategically-placed kids and staff at the Christian camp Chuck and Blair traveled out of the city to find Georgina at and get her confirmation that Gabriel wasn't with them the night Serena blacked out wore neon green tee shirts. 7. Gabriel wore a soft green pullover -- very much like this one by Elie Tahari-- in his hotel room as he and Poppy realized that Serena suspected something was up. 8. Serena wore an oversized emerald scarf when she went to Gabriel's hotel room to confront him about the inconsistencies in his story. (He said he met her with Georgina at NYC hot spot, Butter, but Butter was closed; and he didn't know that Georgina has brown hair.) 9. And then there was Nate's jealousy of Blair and Chuck's friendship. He bought a glorious wall-of-windows apartment in Manhattan's Murray Hill (imo -- Blair told Nate she "loathe[s]" Murray Hill), asked her to move in, and cryptically told Chuck to stay away from Blair. All in all, I have to give props to the art director on the seamlessly choreographed color. Two episodes ago it was snowing on the show, but this week's fresh infusion of green was a smart transition to spring and a clever way to impress the point that jealousy -- pretty much the motivation for every scheme on the show -- was in the air too.
