Going out for me is never a simple affair. When there is a big evening ahead, I need the perfect dress, the perfect shoes, and of course, the perfect bag. Yesterday morning, as I was carefully mixing and matching a Tahari dress there with a Prada shoe there etc., my husband remarked, "Why do you women take so much time to do all that? It really doesn't matter" (Gasp!) I immediately stopped him in his tracks.
The reason, I said, was simple. It's the power of pretty. Every woman whose ever had a stranger open the door for her or give her a glowing compliment understands this. People respond to things that are aesthetically pleasing. And if you're single and looking for love, let's face it, looking good is your best weapon. So yes, I will continue to painstakingly search for the perfect outfits (thank God for Bluefly) and put effort into my look because even my husband, with all his fashion cynicism, can't help but drool all over me when I'm wearing some sexy Louboutins and a little black D&G dress.
“ To me, it's sexier when it doesn't look like you go to the gym. If you look like you've been spending a lot of time in the gym, then it just looks like you spend a lot of time in the gym.”
