First of all, Michael Kors was sketching caricatures of the customers packed into his SoHo store. "Would you believe I used to do this at sweet 16s?!," he told us as we waited in line for our own sketches. "I was the fastest drawer on Long Island." Debra Messing and Lynda Carter (a.k.a. Wonder Woman) was in the house too! Over at Rachel Roy's pop-up store in SoHo, the designer gave us her take on the '80s fashion craze, gave Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenburg props for being strong businesswomen, and called me "mama" (loved it!); and at Chanel, nail technicians were giving waiting customers free manicures. And that's just what was happening inside the store. Outside, the streets of SoHo felt like Miami on a holiday weekend as people clogged the cobblestone streets enjoying a night out in honor of fashion. It was fly!
“Well, I, uh - I read in The New York Times this week that I'm an ice queen, I'm the Sun King, I'm an alien fleeing from District 9 and I'm a dominatrix. So I reckon that makes me a lukewarm royalty with a whip from outer space.”
