Flat Heels, Big Style

Normally, when someone injures their leg, their first thought is 'I hope I can walk again', but as I laid on the gym floor last month grabbing at the jolting pain in my lower calf, my first thought was: 'I hope I can walk in heels again!'

Yes, I have an obsession -- no, a strong passion -- for heels, especially those 4'' and higher. So the thought of me not ever being able to wear a killer pair of Giuseppes ever again was frightening... Even more frightening than the fact that I had just torn my achilles tendon.

So, fast forward to today, I've had my surgery, and the doctor says I will be able to walk again, even in heels. Yay! But the bad news: that won't be for another 6 months! Boo! So in the meantime, I'll have to stick to flats.

Of course, the only flats in my shoe collection are gym sneakers so stocking up on some cute flats is a must. And you know what? Bluefly has some really cute options for gals who either want or need to rock flat heels! My first pick are these awesome 'Riddler' ankle boots by Free People. I'm definitely going to rock them with leggings and a long graphic t-shirt. And being the diva that I am, I've got to have something sexy so I'm going to splurge on these over the knee 'Hilde' boots by Jimmy Choo.

For dinner nights with my beau, I'm going to pair these 'Alexis' peep toe flats by Pour La Victoire with a sassy mini dress (absolutely love the zip detail, tres chic!)

Six months going cold turkey on the stilettos may not be that bad after all. Who knows? By the time my tendon heals, I may not even think about going back!
