As I make my living from fashion -- writing, trending, styling (we'll politely not mention my lifelong fashion obsession) -- I was able to count over five trends worn at the same time on the swanky blonde fashionista riding in my Queens-bound subway car yesterday.

Check.

Over the knee boots?

Check.

Fringed leather bag?

Check.

Boyfriend tee?

Check.

Black leggings?

I host "style camps" and try very hard to teach women that yes, they can follow a trend but they have to know how to do it. Yes, less is more, and you can wear bits and pieces but don't be so confusing that people don't have a clue what you are doing. Having a core piece and adapting it to the trends in subtle ways will keep the trend going for you and you'll always look and feel stylish.
