Last week I wore a plaid blouse for 5 days. I also dry-cleaned it twice at this amazing place near my apartment that can have things ready the next day by 8am if you get it there by 7pm the night before -- pretty convenient, right?? Were it not for this place, my 1x5 items would be limited to blazers, vests, and accessories, which would be SO boring.
Here's how I wore my plaid blouse:
Monday:
Perhaps I was feeling a little school-girly...? I'm not sure. Mondays are always hit or miss for me, and last week was probably more of a miss. I paired the plaid blouse with Johnson shorts, purple wool tights, and Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent wedge sandals. In my head, I thought it would look better than it actually did -- maybe I needed more accessories...?? Two things to note, however: 1) Wool tights are incredibly warm, and quite possibly warmer than jeans; they're like a sweater wrapped around your legs, and 2), the Cynthia Vincent wedges are one of my favorite Bluefly purchases; they are so comfortable, very high, and the buckles and straps are amazing!!
Tuesday:
This is my "I'm with the band" look, or at least, that's what I thought when I added the sequin vest . In addition to the vest, I'm wearing the blouse with a vintage high waist leather skirt, black tights, and Dior sandals. I bought these IMMEDIATELY after the SATC movie came out, along with the studded Streets Ahead belt, which were my favorite Carrie accessories. Can't wait for the sequel this May!!
Wednesday: I had to facilitate a meeting so this is my generic corporate-casual look. I wore the plaid blouse with AG skinny jeans, a long blazer and Chanel pumps. The Kashmere scarf was a last minute throw on -- when I rolled the sleeves of my blazer, I thought it would be interesting to match the lining pattern with the grey/black leopard print of the scarf.
Thursday:
This was not an easy outfit to put together -- I felt that I needed to get away from black because I had relied on it so much for the other three days. I had a moment of clarity in the shower and ended up with this rich, boho look -- it was so unexpected and amazing! I added a brown satin skirt and faux fur vest to the plaid blouse as well as these lovely drop earrings. They are so unique that I took a close-up of the earrings. On my feet, I wore my brown Gucci Babouska booties.
This week, I'll be wearing Prada black suede crystal studded booties, which I've worn with other 1x5 outfits. What I love most about this week's challenge is that I am a HUGE believer in special shoes, i.e., designer shoe splurges -- they're expensive, but they really do make any outfit special. Next Monday, I hope I'll show you how!
