During the holiday, my friend made an oath to only rock shorts this summer--no jeans, no capris-- just shorts. As for me, I am not fond of the "tug and walk" movements that come courtesy of traditional shorts--unless they have stretch fabric--because frankly they cling to all the wrong places, hence, these white sailor shorts by ADAM complete with stretch material. Now I want to know.......
Seen on many a hipster, hip-hopper and of course fashionista, the vest shows no signs of slowing down and I can't front, I have two of them myself--one in denim and one in black lace--but I have to wonder........
I know that peep-toe ankle boots are all the rage this summer, but what about boots-boots? The fashionista caught here seems to think that as long as they are mid-calf, boots in the heat are fine.
Poor thing. The turban has been trying to be a trend for two years now, popping up on the heads of Beyonce, pretty much all the models in the July '08 issue of Vogue Italia and Andre Leon Talley. But it just hasn't stuck. Do you think it's kid sister the babouschka will? Or better yet...
A few months back, I bought a wool pleated skirt and my friends were not on board with the look. But this crepe A-line skirt by Sine by Parameter still has me convinced that one can never go wrong with the right pleated skirt.
I'm not sure I would rock this look, but she certainly does look like one of Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Girls, on the other hand short shorts are all the rage right now.....
I don' think I'm digging this "look" very much. Knee-hi socks with ballet flats!? I would have preferred to see a saddle shoe or Mary Jane inspired pump with funky leggings.
I can honestly say I do love a ponytail, but I think, after a certain age, the actual ponytail holders must be a bit more sophisticated then what I captured here. Your thoughts?
I've tried, I've really tried to personally rock this look…...but it just doesn't work for me. High-waist jeans either make my girls look like they are on a platter or my tummy not so fab.
The first time I spotted this trend, an indie designer was rocking a custom pair of rainbow crotchet ones, this young lady sports a pastel spandex pair over black pumps. I'm not so sure about this trend....but I'm calling them shoe warmers. LOL.
In between touching up my dramatic red lipstick after every sip of my yummy cocktail at last night's party, I took notice of these cowboy inspired ankle boots. As I've mentioned before I'm not only a sucker for white shoes but also ankle boots and I love the fringe, silver trim and secret zipper on these bad boys.
I usually would never think to carry a bag just for my cellphone; I already carry a make-up bag, a wallet and a purse, but this gold embossed leather cellphone holder by Chanel is sweet and has me rethinking.....
I've personally been rocking gladiator sandals for the past two summers, but this year it seems that everyone has finally caught onto these comfy, yet funky sandals. Though, I have over two pair, these blood red sandals by Balenciaga are worthy of a debit card swipe.
Quite a few fashionistas have been rocking suspenders with everything from high-waisted jeans to short-shorts. I don't find this to be the most democratic accessory.
While salivating over our Chanel inventory, this brooch caught my eye. Not what I was expecting from Chanel -- which is precisely what might make it fun to wear, no?
What do you think about head-to-toe prints? Personally, I love 'em and would happily rock this Alice Ritter blouse and skirt together. But what say you? Too much?
I personally love daring footwear; it's the easiest way to express your most dramatic side. I captured this pair of striped boots on one of NYC's most elite Styleaholics and though I like the silhouette of the shoe, I'm not sure if the stripes detract or add to the overall look.
Fashiontribes, recently hipped me to the fact that elaborate hats were back for spring. Though these looks by Christian Dior Couture and Alexander McQueen, have nothing on the ladies who attend my Baptist church, I still think they may be even too funky for me.
Edgy trench coats are in full swing this season; styles include animal prints and bold colors similar to this sunny Michael Kors hooded, belted trench.
Buzzing through our accessory wall, I landed on this Dolce & Gabbana black patent and pvc double handle bag; personally I love the combo of gold chain links and the black color blocking, but I honestly am so paranoid about having all my "stuff" on display.
Frye Boots are best known for their broken-in, vintage leather look, but this fall they're introducing a patent version and I'm not sure how I feel about them. I'm always down to introduce some shine into my wardrobe, but patent boots should have a pointy-heel on them, no?
Walking last night on my way to my favorite Ethiopian joint, I was struck with awe and admiration at the massive variety of ankle boots worn by NYC's trendiest, but I'm still on the fence about the lace-up bootie as it sort of reads: GRANNY.
Though this baglooks great--I'm especially digging the taupe colored patent leather--I can't help but think that it really reminds me of a small piece of luggage; and after reading the NYT article on painful purses, I'm not so sure if this trend is for me.
On a showroom visit this past Wednesday at Factory PR (they handle press for Tracy Reese, Yoana Baraschi and a host of other lust-have labels), they showed me this Tweetie bird yellow, high-waisted denim skirt from Fresh Ink's Pre-Fall line -- from a rack lined with Crayola-colored gems. I'm ready to play in the crayon box, and have been having particular fun wearing my marigold and purple booties with otherwise slate or black ensembles. When it comes to colored jeans, what say you?
During my daily trendspotting adventures I noticed a strong surge in super trendy grey winter coats with the styles ranging from a classic Pea Coat to various takes on the Swing Jacket for both men and women. After much bemoaning I finally threw away my wonderfully warm, but horribly worn grey coat in October.
Every winter and I do mean every, this hat rears its woolly head to descend upon the fashionable or not so fashionable masses. This season the tam hat trend seems to lean toward jewel colors worn at a variety of unusual angles.
Just like PopCrunch, I really couldn't help cracking up over this new fashion trend. These puppies are supposed to keep your feet warm during the winter months when you're at the nail salon waiting for your toes to dry. Honestly, if the nail salon where I'm getting my pedi doesn't have adequate heat during the winter months, I won't be back. However, I must admit if these socks were in a fun color and designed a bit sexier, I probably would rock them.
Fashionistas know that besides the usual holiday stress: shopping, cooking, cleaning, annoying in-laws, there is the duty of having the "right" holiday dress. Though I usually find silver dresses quite difficult to pull off, the surprisingly flattering geometric shapes peppered with black details, makes these dresses a must have this holiday season.
Okay, I have to be honest and confess that I wasn't even aware of this trend until fellow blogger Malcolm did a post about Pharrell rocking a custom made Birkin murse. Now, of course, I've seen them everywhere on both my g-boys and my straights. But as a female first and a fashionista second, I'm not so sure how comfortable I feel with men rocking oversized shoulder bags.
Every year, I flounder over 'weather' or not to purchase super sexy stylish, brand name rain boots or 'weather' to simply stick with my old boring galoshes, that frankly keep me dry but most certainly not fly.
Now it's easy for divas like Beyonce, to go from the grocery store to the red carpet in sequins. But what about the rest of us? This fall seems to be the season of sequins and not just for New Year's. This Bailey 44 dress dares to bring out the diva in you with its sassy leopard print and shiny detailing.
It seems that the trend of funky grandma jewelry continues. By creating this pendant in a matte finish silver and an unusual shape, designer Lauren Wolf gives this pendant necklace a new millennium twist.
One of the beautiful things about fall fashion is that there are no bad hair days thanks to hats. For fall 2007 the classic Bowler makes a return visit this time for both guys and gals.
There's some welcome news on the wide-leg vs. skinny leg debate for those who can't seem to make up their minds -- you can have it all. "You don't have to give up one for the other," a J Brand salesperson told StyleFile, which noted that even fashion sage Kate Moss can't seem to make up her mind, appearing in skinnies one day and wides the next. What do you prefer, these ultra-wides by Fashionista, or stick with skinny by Sass & Bide?
Would you kill for a blazer? When it comes to a certain must-have striped Balenciaga blazer, left, some women might. One British lady refused to leave department store Harvey Nichols until the sales staff agreed to sell her one of the waiting-list-only $2,650 jackets, reports Vogue.com. It's not exactly the same, but this striped slim-fit alice + olivia cardigan could fit the bill and at a fraction of the price. Just add kaffiyeh, skinny trousers and some brow makeup and you're there.
How will you rock your tweeds for fall? Just a little bit as an accent, as with these tweed pumps by Stuart Weitzman or will you go full throttle with this slim-fitting tweed jacket by Nanette Lepore?
Worn as a dress cinched with belt or thrown over a favorite pair of jeans, the chunky, oversized knit sweater is a fall favorite, especially in grey. So which would you wrap around yourself, this sweater coat by AdamPlusEve, or this lambswool cardigan by BCBG MaxAzria?

It's no life-or-death choice, but which metallic ballet flat would you pick -- Dolce & Gabbana or Prada? Dolce's are cute, with PVC peekaboo cutouts, while Prada's are squishy enough to be tucked into your purse for when those platforms give you corns.
Gray and purple are big colors for fall, so which do you want more? We've got a cute gray dress by Tart lined up against a violet shift by Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent.
Suede ankle boots from Miu Miu. Just the thing to throw on with a short dress and long legs in tights, or perhaps you've grown tired of booties already.
Marc Jacobs' fall 2007 collection gave us the wide-brimmed hat, and a prim, adult, buttoned-up look that was more retro than future. Elle's put the giant hat on it's list of must-have accessories for fall, but do you agree with them? Do you want to spend fall looking like you're on your way to a tea party? Or does Marc see the future of fashion?
A new fall silhouette is coming soon, so it's time to check out some wide-leg high-waisted trousers, this pair by Alice + Olivia. The high waist has been seen in shorts and jumpers all summer long, and on runways long before that, but are you ready for that mom-jeans look?
C3 puts the cash in cashmere with this navy crewneck sweater knit with a giant pink dollar sign. It's pretty funny, and it's on sale, but would you wear it?
For your yay or nay pleasure, we have Prada's fringed lambskin bag, which could be yours for a jaw-dropping $1,560. Maybe you're not one to drop one (or two) month's rent on a handbag, but if price were no object, would you want it or not?
A new black cross print dress from the Karl Lagerfeld collection. We dig the asymmetrical draping and the cut of the shoulder straps. At $417, it's a bargain for the piece of the Lagerfeld legacy, but then again, what's in a name, really? And how much of a fashion victim do you have to be to think a $400 dress is a good deal?
Is this the greatest top you've ever seen or the weirdest? Alice & Olivia's banded neckline top could be so right or so wrong. This is the kind of piece you'd have to rock with total confidence or risk looking like an ice cream sandwich.
Peep these linen espadrille wedges by Tory Burch. Can you see yourself strolling on the beach, or falling on your face in the sand? Love the navy-and-white graphic pattern, or lose it? Still hot for espadrille wedges, or tired of seeing them on other feet in the street?
This long halter summer dress by Eva Franco is not only cute and the right color, it's breezy enough not to stick to your sweaty body and just the thing to throw on with flip-flops. But maybe you're ready for the death of hippie chic for good?
A purple metallic quilted "Stam" bag by Marc Jacobs. It's not a lot of purse for $1,320, but it is a Marc Jacobs handbag. So whaddya think? Is it an overrated eggplant? Or do you have to have it?
Check out these cobalt peep-toe flats by Prada. They've got Prada's ladylike ways and unusual color combos, plus the peep toe offers plenty of air for overheated summer feet. But are the colors too weird? And the way we all run through flats in the summer, does anyone really want to throw down $312 for summer shoes?
We know tube tops and popular, and so are slouchy tops, but together? Is this banded tube top by Design History the perfect blend of two trends, or is it impossible for anyone to get away with wearing this unless they are 19 years old and a size 2?
The chunky crystal has been a spring staple, from Marc Jacobs' oversized 80s-esque jewels to Viktor & Rolf's lucite heels that look like they were stolen from a Liberace candelabra. But would you wear it? This chunky resin bangle, center, by Viktoria Hayman could be just the thing to get some bling -- or maybe not. What do you think -- fly or bye?
Suspender shorts: love 'em or hate 'em? These denim shorts by Hudson could look cute in the right context, but recent sightings of celebs in suspender shorts hasn't helped the cause. One Off the Rack reader thinks Fergie "looks like a member of Duran Duran," (off-topic, but another person wrote, "Fergie, NKOTB called and wanted their hat back") and another pleaded, "Lindsay, please don't wear those again." What do you think? Should they be brought back or banned?
This $1,116 brown leather handbag by YSL has a gorgeous sculptural shape, but we thought the color left a little to be desired -- until we realized it's reversible, with gold leather on the inside. So what do you think? Is $1,000 still too much even for two handbags? Or is it a dream come true?
We know ruffles are making a comeback, but how about on a handbag? Is this BCBGirls handbag totally overdone, or do you stand by your ruffles? Yes or no?
Related Links: Think those ruffles are all wrong? How about these?
Can you believe it's Hermes? What do you think? Does this sarong put the circus tent into the tent dress, or can you picture yourself lounging on a yacht en route to Monte Carlo while the cabana boy fetches you champagne?
These oversized plastic aviators by Marc Jacobs could offer the perfect retro-future look to protect you from the elements -- or maybe you think they're ski goggles from hell. Tell us what you think -- yes or no?
Related Links: Don't like those sunglasses? There's plenty more.
Ripped straight from the pages of the "Xanadu" playbook, this off-the-shoulder dress by BCBGirls might look best with roller skates and feathered hair. But then upon second glance, the asymmetry could be really interesting with the right shoes and accessories. Is it too retro to be good? I just don't know. You tell me -- oh yeah or nah?
Seems that the tailored dress short with high socks and a dress shoe is all the rage for spring, but will men actually take to the look? The look, equal parts childhood throwback and Bermuda homage, is getting props from the New York Times' recent men's fashion mag to the Thom Browne runway, but only time will tell whether men will be rushing out to look like Little Lord Fauntleroy. And if we're operating under the assumption that men dress to attract women, I'm guessing that showing off their "hosiery" ain't exactly the move.
Related Links: Guys, if you do opt for this look, go for cropped shorts like these.
For your consideration, we have a silk ruffle v-neck belted camisole by Rebecca Taylor. Does it take the ruffle trend too far, or bring ruffles to a new level? What do you think -- buy or bye-bye?
It came from outer space... Actually, it came from Bluefly and it's a jeweled branch cuff by Chanel. Work of art or piece of work? What do you think -- yes or no?
For your consideration, we have a pair of purple suede Marc Jacobs boots, complete with metallic-backed wrap-around straps. Does it look like someone skinned Grimace, or would we have to pry these off your feet in spring? Love 'em or hate 'em?
Chunky sweaters for layering are all the rage, but does this asymmetrical BCBG Max Azria wrap sweater fill the bill? It's a steal at $98 and more interesting than your basic cardigan, but could be a little on the bulky side in a season where you already feel bigger than Santa. So, whatcha think? Fly or Bye?
These $219 strappy silver and shearling booties by Michael Kors would look at home at the club -- or on Star Trek. Are they too far out or just right? Fly or Bye?
This $219 sparkly pencil skirt by L.A.M.B. has some interesting draping and cool fabric. But might someone think you're wearing it backwards? Super cute or just too weird? Fly or Bye?
These gold platform wedges by Lanvin are so tall you'll fall. But who cares when they give you four extra inches? Is it time platforms came down to earth, or do we love the drama of sky-high shoes? Fly or Bye?
Related Links: If it's Lanvin, does anything else matter?
The giant Fendi buckle was hailed as the accessory du jour, slapped on the popular Fendi B handbag. But how can mere mortals pull off such a cartoonishly large buckle? Is this the perfect way to finish an outfit or a buckle on steroids? Buy or bye-bye?

To logo or not to logo, that is the question. Does this tee give the best of both worlds -- being anti-logo while still promoting D&G? Have Domenico and Stefano gone mad, or are they making a much-needed statement about designer logos?
Here we have a faux-fur trimmed lightweight heather jersey jacket by Diesel. So what do you think? Bride of Chewbacca or downtown hipster? Hooray or no way?
Put them on your face or put 'em in their place? Giant pink Gucci sunglasses may eclipse your face, but they maintain that old-school Hollywood glamour. Huge sunglasses are still huge, despite word that it's time to move on to other shapes. So, yes to huge pink sunglasses with a horsebit to boot? Or time to move on to greener pastures?
Would you take this home with you? Second in a series where our fine readers tell us what you would and wouldn't wear from Bluefly's stock. Here we have a YSL fringed and studded bronze handbag. Is it too Xena Warrior Princess, or just the thing to go with fall's "urban warrior" styles?
Would you or wouldn't you wear these? That's what we'd like to know, so we're introducing Fly or Bye? a new feature that asks you, our savvy shoppers, to scrutinize the booty over at Bluefly. Here we have a suede retro wedge by C.Ronson. Too "Mork & Mindy" or just the thing to transition from summer to fall with some dark tights? So whaddya think -- buy or bye-bye?
